'Fund crunch delaying probe into Kalburgi murder'

Last Updated 01 December 2015, 20:01 IST
Attacking the Congress-led government in Karnataka for delay in probing murder of scholar M M Kalburgi, Dharwad BJP MP, Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday alleged that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the State government, has stopped investigation due to shortage of funds.

Participating in a debate over the issue of 'intolerance’ in Lok Sabha, Joshi said“The Karnataka government is not providing funds for the CID team and that is why investigation has stopped”.

The probe agency has failed to nab the culprits even after 93 days of Kalburgi’s  murder. “I asked the Additional Director General of CID about the progress of probe and he said they don’t have any lead about the incident. When the CID has failed to find out culprits behind the murder, how can any body blame RSS for the incident" Joshi sought to know.

Demanding the CBI probe into the incident, he said the central agency can bring truth. Alleging that Congress and Communists have been blaming RSS for every incident in the country, he said it was unfair to blame RSS without any facts. The RSS was blamed for church attacks in Karnataka in 2000.

However, after the probe it was found that the incident was the handiwork of the persons associated with SIMI, which was banned subsequently, he said.

Joshi said that Prashanth Poojari, a flower vendor at Moodbidri, Dakshina Kannada district was murdered for protesting against illegal cow slaughter.

However, the Karnataka ministers Abhaya Chandra Jain and U T Khader, who hail from the district stated that Poojari was facing several cases and he was murdered in that connection. “The fact is that there were no cases against Poojari,” Joshi said.
