Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who also holds Energy portfolio, told reporters here on Monday that tenders will be floated in a few days.
The State is facing a shortage of 1,800 MW-2,000 MW power, he said adding that though uninterrupted power supply is impossible under the prevailing circumstances, power purchase agreements are signed with private companies to ensure regular power supply during the exams.

Besides, the Government is contemplating entering into the long-term power purchase agreements with the private companies, he disclosed.
The State government has also worked out plans to bring down transmission loss from 18 per cent to 15 per cent, the CM said.

On the controversial Dandavati irrigation project against which the farmers have been staging a protest since the past nine days, he said the Government will implement the project and provide best possible compensation to the farmers. He criticised JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda and former chief minister S Bangarappa for ‘instigating the farmers to protest against the project.’

Later, in another programme in the City , the CM said, the State government will conduct a door-to-door survey to assess and ensure that the welfare programmes reach the beneficiaries.

Clearing the State’s stance on Bt Brinjal, he demanded the Union government take initiatives to popularise native brinjal varieties and give thrust to encourage the native agriculture practices in the national farm policies.
He said, the Centre has appreciated the rehabilitation works in progress under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in north Karnataka.
