Panic gripped a part of the diplomatic area when a Mercedes Benz owner threw up a fit and whipped out a revolver after a cab glazed past his costly car.

Amid traffic jam near Turkish embassy, some onlookers mistook it as a “terror” strike before the air was cleared about road rage being the real cause behind the drama.
Hauz Khas-resident Aman Verma was arrested at the spot, police said on Sunday. He was carrying a licence for the revolver, which had a marking ‘Kanpur 2003’.

Five cartridges were also recovered from his possession.
The incident occurred after Aman’s car hit a Maruti Suzuki Eeco taxi near National Rail Museum in south Delhi’s Chanakyapuri on Friday.

“The accused was nabbed on the basis of a complaint filed by 40-year-old taxi driver Deepak Saxena,” said a police officer. Deepak lives with family in east Delhi’s Mandawali.
On Friday, Deepak was driving the taxi from Moti Bagh towards Shanti Path at around 9 pm.

He was on the flyover near National Rail Museum when Aman’s luxury car rammed into the vehicle from behind.

Deepak claims the Mercedes was speeding and he lost balance over the wheels on impact.

“The taxi went out of control and came to a halt on the pavement. Deepak sustained injuries which needed treatment,” the officer added.

Soon, Aman went up to Deepak and began abusing him. Other motorists stopped at the spot and gathered around Aman and Deepak on which Aman whipped out his revolver.
Within minutes, PCR van V-84 reached at the spot. Aman was detained, while Deepak was taken to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

A case under Indian Penal Code and Arms Act has been registered with Chanakyapuri police station.

Aman claims he aimed to open fire in the air to disperse the crowd. People at the spot, however, told police that Aman aimed to open fire at them due to which they got scared and began to leave.
