JOIN USAn Indian Air Force Su-30 MKI fighter jet has intercepted an unidentified flying object in Barmer on Tuesday after the balloon-shaped object was seen on the IAF radar, triggering an alert.
“Between 10 30 and 11 00 am an unidentified balloon-shaped object was picked up by the Indian Air Force (IAF) radar. An IAF fighter was launched, which intercepted the object and brought it down. Materials have been retrieved and further investigation is on,” said an IAF spokesperson.
While there are speculations on whether the object could be meteorological balloon from India or Pakistan, the IAF has not disclosed its identification till the time of filing the report.
The incident happened in Barmer, nearly 500 km from Jaipur, where villagers have reported an incident of metal pieces falling from the sky.
