The programme was postponed because of poor turn up of fisher folk on Saturday owing to the bundh called by Sri Ram Sene. Though handful of fishermen leaders were present at the programme, with general consent that the programme must be held in presence of the fisher folk, the organisers, Centre for Environment Education, Bangalore, officials decided to hold the meeting again.
The CEE officials said that the decision on the CRZ will be taken only after the consultation reports are submitted to the Government. Hence, CEE has to hold 10 of such consultations and get to know the reactions of the fisher folk, to whom it concerns and submit a report.
A presentation of the highlights of Prof M S Swaminathan Committee report was made at the meeting.
