A hero for rural development

At the age of 81 years, Dr BT Lakshman doesn’t rest. He did his BE Civil in UVCE and taught in UVCE in the Rural Housing wing. In 1963, he did MS in Rourkee University and continued teaching in UVCE.

In 1968 he did MS in Delaware University USA and worked in Artesian Water Company for 22 years. About 20 of his research papers were published in international journals.

In 1979, he established BTL Foundation for International Services. In 1992 BTL Foundation contributed US 120 thousand to Delaware University for scholarships to five students every year; renovated three buildings for sheltering the homeless and built 22 clean well water projects in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Africa. He (first NRI) became Rotary Governor of RI Dist 7630, USA.

In 1980 he established ‘BTL Education Trust for Rural Development’. BTL Trust is running 15 Institutions in Bengaluru and Mysuru. He gave Rs 1.5 crores as scholarships in BTL Institutions and Government Polytechnics. Bangalore University gave him an Honorary Doctorate as a recognition for his contribution to education. He received many awards. In 1992 he was awarded ‘Karnataka Rajyotsava Award’ and Global Indian Award. He donates all the award amounts towards rural development.
