Modi to launch Make in India Week today

 The stage is all set for the Make in India Week in Mumbai, Asia’s largest multi-sectoral exhibition, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Mody on Saturday.

The event will witness participation from 2,500 international delegates and over 1,000 international and 8,000 Indian companies. Modi will inaugurate the Make in India Centre at MMRDA Grounds at Bandra Kurla Complex.

He will walk through the Centre, accompanied by Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan Löfven, and Prime Minister of Finland Juha Sipilä, and other senior dignitaries from India and abroad. He will hold bilateral meetings with senior foreign leaders. The prime minister will formally launch the Make in India week at an event at National Sports Club of India at Worli. He will address a gathering comprising senior leaders and captains of industry from both India and abroad.

The Make in India Week shall be a flagship event to provide greater momentum to the Make in India initiative, and to showcase to the world the achievements of the nation in the manufacturing sector. It shall promote India as a preferred manufacturing destination globally. Over the course of a week, it will offer access, insights and opportunities to connect and collaborate with India and global industry leaders, academicians, central and state administrations.

Addressing reporters at the Make in India Centre, DIPP Secretary Amitabh Kant said, “It was important to exhibit what has been achieved and therefore, the Make in India Week is going to be the largest multi-sectoral exhibition in Asia. Indian manufacturing will be on full display with all its power here.”

The Centre will feature an exhibition of the most innovative products and manufacturing processes that have been developed in India, and will showcase 192 global and Indian companies across key focus sectors such as Defence & Aerospace; Automobiles & Auto Components; Chemicals & Petrochemicals; Construction Equipment, Materials & Technology; Food Processing; Infrastructure Development; IT & Electronics; Industrial Equipment & Machinery; Pharmaceuticals; Textiles and MSMEs. In addition, the Centre will include 11 sector and three country pavilions along with 17 state pavilions that cut across political lines to display India’s major manufacturing states, their achievements and investment potential.
