Bank manager who sought bribe for granting loan held

The CBI arrested the manager of Syndicate Bank's Peenya branch on the charge of graft. The accused K C Misra was trapped accepting bribe from a customer for clearing the housing loan.

The complainant N Ashok had applied for housing loan with Syndicate Bank. The branch manager Misra demanded a bribe of Rs 45,000 for clearing the first instalment of Rs 46 lakh. The CBI officials laid a trap on Thursday based on the complaint filed by Ashok. The CBI officials arrested Misra red-handed at his residence in Vijayanagar while demanding and accepting the bribe. The CBI officials also searched the house of the accused and found several incriminating documents pertaining to investments.

The accused was produced before the 21st Special Judge Court for CBI cases on Friday. Special Court judge B K Naik remanded Misra in judicial custody. A senior official said that further investigation into the seizures made at Misra's house is under way.
