Centre sanctions Rs 209 cr for roads

State had asked for Rs 12,000 cr under various schemes

Addressing media persons ahead of attending the Krishi Mela in Kadur on Thursday, he said that Centre has sanctioned Rs 209 crore on Wednesday.

He said that he had a discussion with Central Minister Kamalnath on Wednesday itself for development of 32 kms of Shiradi Ghat at a cost of Rs 115 crore.

Kamalnath has promised to release the funds within 15 days of sending the proposal, he said.

A proposal for four-laning of Kundapur-Goa (NH-17), Hassan-Bangalore (NH-48), which have heavy traffic flow has been approved by the Centre. Tumkur-Honnavar, Ankola-Guthi will be handed over to State Highway Authority for maintenance, he informed.

Bridges

The Centre has approved development of inter-state connective bridges too. Under this project, a bridge will be built at river Thunga Bhadra at a cost of Rs 26.39 crore at Arive village in Haveri district, a bridge across Krishna river at Chincholi in Raichur at Rs 25 crore, another bridge across Thunga Bhadra at Raichur-Manthralaya route at a cost of Rs 39.5 crore and Hunasurghatta bridge will be built at a cost of Rs 16 crore, he said.

Bagalkot Railway Bridge,  will be taken up at a cost of Rs 56 crore under Central fund. The bridge will be built at Alamatti backwaters, he said.

Discussion has been held with the Government to develop State Highways at Bidar-Srirangapatna (712 kms), Thadasa-Shimoga (171 kms), Kumta-Sirsi-Haveri-Kudlagi (240 kms).

The Centre has approved a weigh bridge at Sakleshpura and the equipment have been brought and the works will be started soon, he said.
