More people, he said, are opting for allopathic medications for anaemia, but they are also suffering from side effects like acidity and constipation. “The Government will not do much to promote Ayurvedic medicines. It is the duty of the AYUSH and Ayurvedic medical students to promote these indigenous medicines,” he said.
S Selva Kumar, Mission Director, National Rural Health Mission said AYUSH must organise health camps and must promote their form of medicines which is preventable and curable. One woman dies every five minutes in India due to pregnancy-related complications and 16 per cent of such deaths are attributed to anaemia. Maternal anaemia is the most common haematological disorder that may occur during pregnancy, which causes severe complications including fatality in mother and foetus.
