A Nepalese woman strangled her two children before committing suicide at a makeshift shed in Thambuchetty Palya, Ramamurthy Nagar, east Bengaluru, on Monday.

Police identified the deceased as Gangadevi, 26, Palpasa, 6, and Parbal, 3. Her six-month-old son survived the strangle bid.

According to the police, Gangadevi was married to Prem, 32. The couple went to Kerala to eke out a living, but decided to settle down in Bengaluru.

Prem was uneducated and could get only a security guard’s job. However, he frequently changed his job much to the annoyance of his wife who had completed her degree. The family was forced to stay in open sites and abandoned structures and Gangadevi found it extremely difficult to manage the three children and domestic affairs, said the police.

Recently, Prem took up a security guard’s job at an under-construction building in Thambuchetty Palya. The family stayed in a makeshift shed near the construction site. Gangadevi had expressed her displeasure over staying in the shed, said the police. The couple had quarrelled over the matter in the recent past.

Unable to bear the waywardness of her husband, Gangadevi strangled her two children and hanged herself. Her baby son was handed over to the relatives. The police registered a case of murder against Gangadevi and decided to question Prem.
