After spreading its roots in Chikkamagaluru and Kabini, Coffee Day Hotels & Resorts (CDHR) has entered the Andaman Islands by making a strategic investment in Barefoot at Havelock.

“We want to invite the adventure traveller, who is looking for yet another exotic experience,” said Samit Sawhny, Managing Director, Barefoot Group.

The investment for a minority stake will be operationalised through a rights issue, and the funds will be used for the refurbishment and expansion of existing properties at the Andaman Islands, the company said.

Under its tour operation vertical Barefoot Holidays, the company coordinates and promotes holiday packages across the Andaman Islands.

He noted that domestic travellers visit the Andaman Islands for an average five nights, while the international traveller visits for seven nights. Another distinction, he marked, is that Indian travellers are younger and look for adventure, whereas international travellers are in the age group of 40-50 years.

The company is now focused on promoting the Andaman Islands as a favoured holiday destination for adventure travellers.

“All three destinations Chikkamagaluru, Kabini and Andaman Islands, boast of 60% occupancy levels and clock turnovers of around Rs 10 crore. They are going to be the nucleus of our growth plans going forward,” he said.
