'Every character has a purpose'

New dimension

Actor Rachita Ram looks at every project as an opportunity to learn something new. The actor considers her latest release ‘Chakravyuha’ as an achievement of sorts, given that she has been paired with superstar Puneeth.

Rachita is bowled over by the rave reviews on their on-screen chemistry. “People say that Puneeth and I make a good on-screen pair,” she says. “Puneeth is a big star but he has no airs about his legacy and mingles very well with everybody,” says Rachita.
She says she was taken in by Puneeth’s penchant to rehearse his lines and scenes before every shot. “This habit tends to rub off on the costars as well. He also has an immense amount of energy which is infectious in many ways,” she says.

She feels ‘Chakravyuha’ has a lot of elements which give a twist to the regular love story. “Every character has a purpose and meaning. The climax where Puneeth, Arun and I come together is also another factor that has made the movie interesting,” she says.

The young actor says the climax has added a new dimension to the definition of an action sequence. “The climax is mature, intelligent and provokes the viewers to think beyond what they see on screen,” she adds.     She is also glad that she has had the opportunity to play a two-shaded character in the film.

In the first half, she appears cheerful and energetic. She transforms into a very mature person in the second part of the movie. “The character has been conceptualised in an intelligent way and there’s a curiosity factor surrounding my character, how the change occurs and reasons behind the change,” she states.

The movie has been directed by M Saravanan who is from the Tamil film industry.
“Directors and technicians from the Tamil film industry work on a very different wavelength. Saravanan didn’t know a word of Kannada and I used to communicate with him in broken Tamil and through actions,” she says. But she appreciates his vision to accomplish something new through the project.

She is also playing a prominent role in ‘Pushpaka Vimana’ with actor Ramesh Aravind.
“I am not allowed to talk about my character but it is very different from what I’ve played before,” she says.

The actor is also pleased with the kind of projects that are coming her way.
“The projects are a proof that people have begun to realise my potential. I hope to work harder and perform better with each project,” she feels.
