Last Updated 04 May 2016, 20:42 IST

A day after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Shivakumaraiah, the mastermind behind the II PU Chemistry question paper leak, investigators find him to be a tough nut to crack.

A source in the CID said, “On Wednesday, he was subjected to intense interrogation and he did not reveal much about the paper leak. He was rather dodging the officers by giving them information not related to the leak. He also claimed that he was not involved in the Chemistry paper leak in the past couple of years, as he was suffering from diabetes.”

The source said Shivakumaraiah’s call records showed that hundreds of people had contacted him in the past few months.

Some of the numbers are said to be of the people in the education board and the police department.

“We are yet to examine these phone numbers and scrutinise them before we can conclude to whom exactly they belong. He uses several code words in his conversations with his associates and all this has been obtained and being deciphered,” added the source.

Shivakumaraiah’s bank accounts are also being checked and his properties examined. He claims that his relative Kiran alias Kumarswamy was the kingpin of the racket.

It is being learnt that Kiran and Dinesh, Shivakumaraiah’s sons, who are on the run, have also played a major role and their whereabouts are being traced.
They will be nabbed soon, the source said.
