CGK theatre festival at Rangayana from May 15

Troupes from Delhi, Chandigarh to participate

Here is a piece of good news for theatre connoisseurs. Rangayana will organise ‘CGK Amateur Theatre Festival-2016’ from May 15 to June 19.

Rangayana Director H Janardhan (Janni) told media, “The festival has been named after theatre person C G Krishnamurthy, popularly known as ‘CGK’. Though physically disabled, CGK was actively involved in theatre. Plans are to permanently name the festival after CGK.”

6 plays selected

In all, six plays have been selected and will be staged on Sundays at Bhoomigeetha auditorium at 6.30 pm. Janni said, “Amateur theatre plays a key role in the development of society, as it was a part of many social movements in the past.”

Activist K Marulasiddappa will inaugurate the festival on May 15 at Bhoomigeetha at 6 pm. Theatre person H K Ramanath will be the chief guest, while Janni will preside on the occasion.
