Vishwanath, who has proved his prowess over the last couple of years with good results in races all around India, came up with a fine display which included three wins and one second place finish in front of a record crowd at the Nandi hills.

Vishwanath, riding the Shaolin, started his campaign on a high in the upto 130cc, two stroke category with a time of 1:29.19, which was more than a second ahead of second-placed Ravindra MS (1:31.59). Anil came third, clocking (1:34.53).

In his second race, Vishwanath, again riding the Shaolin, decimated the track with torque and technique to register a time of 1:27.05 to bag top honours in the Indian Open category. MS Ravindra (1:27.52) and Sanjay (1:32.28) came in second and third respectively.

The hair-pin filled terrain had Vishwanath, who was taking part in seven races on the day, gasping for breath but he took it all in his stride and rode the Unicorn (upto 130 cc, four stroke) to the finish line ahead of the field.

Vishwanath finished the 1.7 km course in 1:39.13 while Ravindra (1:43.72), came second with S Naik cutting the tape at 1:45.03 for a third place.

“The team has done a really good job on the bikes. I really enjoy this race and the tarmac makes me love it more,” said Vishwanath, who is a common face in Supercross events. “The course is quite easy and easily one of the best tracks I have rode on. We made a few changes to the bike to produce high torque and it paid off.”

Ravindra, who came in second place in three races, bagged the top spot on the podium in two races. Confident after some really good performances in the practice rounds on Tuesday, Ravindra looked in good touch and held on to the momentum to bag the 131 cc-165 cc (two stroke and four stroke) titles with a time of 1:28.00 and 1:35.46, respectively.

Results: Upto 130cc (two stroke): TK Vishwanath (1:29.19) 1, MS Ravindra (1:31.51) 2; Anil (1:34.53) 3.
