JOIN USIncensed by his father beating and abusing his mother, a 20-year-old engineering student stabbed him to death in southwest Delhi’s Sagarpur area on Wednesday late night.
A case of murder has been registered and the accused identified as Nitin has been arrested. Police have also arrested his mother Pushpa, 42, and her brother-in-law for charges of destroying evidence of the crime.
The deceased identified as Virender, 45, was working as a supervisor with his uncle who is a contractor for the last few years. Earlier he used to give tuition classes to students at his home.
“He was an alcoholic and used to beat up his wife and sometimes children too. On Wednesday night, when Virender came home late night, he had an argument with his wife over food,” said a senior police officer.
“Miffed by his wife he yanked off the pipe of the gas cylinder from the stove and tried to take the cylinder away in another room. He yelled at his wife and children that he didn’t want to live with them anymore,” he added.
During the argument, Virender, allegedly made some remarks about the character of his wife which infuriated his son and he took out a knife and stabbed his father multiple times.
Eight stab wounds on legs, hands and stomach were found on the body, police said.
After the murder, the family members and other relatives also came running to the fifth floor of the house and tried to clean up the scene to avoid any suspicion about the incident.
Virender was taken to a hospital by the relatives where he was declared brought dead.
From the hospital someone informed police about the death of Virender following which police arrived at the hospital and sent the body to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for post-mortem.
During investigation Virender’s wife, his son and brother were taken into custody for questioning.
During the questioning of the suspects, Virender’s wife initially tried to take the blame of the death on herself, however, after persistent questioning it was found out that the son was the murderer.
After the arrest of Nitin, police took him to the murder spot to recreate the scene.Police have also recovered the knife with which Nitin stabbed his father multiple times. Further investigation in the case is underway.
