Sugar, spice and something nice

Norman Kolpas once said, ‘Food, like a loving touch or a glimpse of divine power, has the ability to comfort’. That’s one of the powers that the food at ‘Chili’s American Grill & Bar’ in Indiranagar has to offer.

Keeping a rustic bar and a mellow family ambience at the same time, this eatery is one that anyone could walk into at any time of the day and walk out with a smile on their faces. And with the addition of dishes to the regular menu, it only adds to the happiness quotient.

One of the interesting elements that the restaurant has added to the menu is the ‘Tableside guacamole’. The waiter comes to one’s table with all the ingredients to make the guacamole and prepares it right in front of the customer. While it’s an art to watch, it’s best advised to check once in a while about the right amount of salt. This is served with a wholesome plate of nachos. The ‘Southwestern rolls’, one of the signature appetisers, is also an interesting item for one to try. It’s soft and crunchy at the same time and is quite delicious. For those who love cheese, do try the ‘Texas cheese poppers’ as it leaves a string of cheese for your mouth to play around with.

If you are in a mood to be full with a plate of food, the ‘Roasted garlic ribs’ are just perfect. The meat is well- cooked and falls off the bones easily — just the way it should be. The ‘Santa Fe chicken quesadillas’ is a new addition to the menu and serves as an interesting main course. What makes the new menu exciting is the use of ‘craft burgers’.

The buns used for the burger are made out of potatoes! Though there’s a worry of everything crumbling with a single bite, it surprisingly holds it all together and makes it quite the talk of the town. One can choose from 4 patties to sandwich between the buns — buffalo meat, lamb, chicken and Southwestern veggies.

What completes the entire meal is the dessert. Making an entry here is the delectable ‘Chocolate cheesecake’. While one would expect it to be a slice on a plate, this one comes with a twist — it’s served in a glass. Layered with crunchy biscuit at each level,  it sometimes becomes a task to break through the barrier and get the gooey cheesecake.

The restaurant also offers an interesting concoction of drinks to wash down the food with. The ‘Rito trio’, ‘Watermelon margarita’, ‘Hawaiian margarita’ and ‘Mango chile margarita’ add an element of exotic flavours. Each of them carries their own vivid flavours and compliments each dish that you want to try.
