City CBSE topper repeats feat in ComedK

Adhokshaja V Madhwaraj from Bengaluru, who had topped the CBSE Class XII exams in science with 98%, got the first place even in ComedK, scoring 170 out of 180. The other toppers from Karnataka are Rahul Ramesh- Rank 2 and Yashwanth Kumar Tirupathi- Rank 5.

The list of ComedK toppers was announced on Friday, a day before the scheduled date. However, the rest of the students can get their results post noon on Saturday.

Addressing reporters on Friday, A S Srikanth, chief executive for the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (ComedK), said that of the 68,628 candidates who applied for undergraduate engineering seats, 55,680 (81%) candidates appeared for the test on May 8.

Of the top 10 scorers in this entrance exam for UG seats, seven are from Karnataka while the other three are from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. All seven toppers from Karnataka are from Bengaluru. Of the first 100 rank holders, 56 are Karnataka candidates, while the remaining 44 are from outside the state.

Even last year, seven of the 10 toppers were from Karnataka. An analysis of the results, he said, shows that the first 1,000 rank holders had secured more than 70% marks while 1,361 candidates secured marks between 66% and 70%. While 2,373 candidates got between 60% and 65% marks, 6,854 secured between 50% and 60% marks.

While 417 of the first 1,000 rank holders are from Karnataka, 583 are from other states. Srikanth noted that the number of seats available, the quantum of tuition fees and counselling dates would be notified soon.

A separate set of counselling documents detailing the procedure for participating in counselling would also be available shortly and candidates are required to refer to the website regularly for all these updates and for familiarising themselves with the seat selection process thoroughly, he said.
