Pitching for a massive growth in order books of the defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) shipyards, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday asked them to explore export opportunities.
“You have the capability and you need to look for exports,” Parrikar said after inaugurating state-of-the-art Submarine Assembly Workshop at the Mazagon Docks Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) in Mumbai, which is a unique capability of second construction and assembly line for submarines. This has been built at a cost of Rs 153 crore and it would be possible to take up construction of five submarines at a time.
