Union Ministers Birender Singh, Piyush Goyal and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi are among the 12 candidates nominated by the BJP for the Rajya Sabha elections, slated for June 11.

It has shifted MoS, Minority Affairs, Naqvi to Jharkhand, instead of his home state Uttar Pradesh. Goyal and Birender Singh will be in the fray from Maharashtra and Haryana, respectively, a BJP statement said.

BJP vice-presidents Om Prakash Mathur and Purushottam Rupala were fielded for the biennial elections from Rajasthan and Gujarat, respectively.

Former Chhattisgarh home minister Ramvichar Netam and former Bihar BJP chief Gopal Narain Singh have been fielded from their home states. Gopal Singh’s nomination from Bihar brought the curtains down on the candidature of former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi from the lone seat it can win in the state.

Others fielded by the party are Harsh Vardhan Singh and Ram Kumar Verma from Rajasthan and Anil Madhav Dave from Madhya Pradesh.

The BJP has fielded Surjit Thakur and Arjun Sahani for the Legislative Council elections in Maharashtra and Bihar, respectively.
