Record number of devotees throng Tirumala

The unprecedented number of pilgrims the past ten days has propelled the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) administration to set new records in providing amenities.

On Sunday, a record number over 1 lakh pilgrims were provided darshan. Out of the 1,03,384 who had darshan on Sunday, over 47,000 pilgrims were Divyadarshan pilgrims, 30,000 odd Sarvadarshan pilgrims and 16,000 plus comprised of special darshan pilgrims, while the rest included arjitha seva ticket holders, privileged darshan category, Angapradakshina and others.

On Saturday, the Kalyanakatta tonsuring area recorded highest number of tonsures for this year with the figures recording 69, 370 while on Sunday the figures stood at 49,362. 

The Annaprasadam wing of TTD provided large scale of food and beverages to the pilgrims in the last three days in Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Annaprasada Bhavanam, PAC 2, Outside lines, compartments etc.

While the number of pilgrims who had Annaprasadam in MTVAC on May 27 was 77,220 and on May 28 it recorded 78,350. Over 82,570 had free meals on May 29 in this massive complex. Apart from this, curd rice, sambar bath, pongal, upma, etc., were served to the pilgrims waiting in queue and compartments at regular intervals with beverages including coffee, tea, milk and buttermilk in between intervals in the last three days.

Over 4,04,967 laddus were distributed on May 28 and 3,97,960 on May 29, respectively.
