Narayanasamy stakes claim to form govt

Amid the controversy, senior Congress leader and former Union minister V Narayanasamy on Monday met newly appointed Lt Governor Kiran Bedi and formally staked claim to form the next government in Puducherry.

After the Congress-DMK alliance won 17 out of 30 seats in the Union territory, Narayanasamy was elected as Congress Legislature party leader.

Armed with the letter of support, Narayanasamy, accompanied by Pradesh Congress Committee president A Namassivayam and DMK MLA R Siva, met Kiran Bedi at Raj Nivas and staked claim to form the government.

Narayanasamy also handed over the letter of support from the DMK. After formal approval from the Centre, the Congress government under Narayanasamy will be sworn in. Soon after coming out of governor's office, Narayanasamy said

 Namassivayam and he would go to New Delhi to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi. 

“After discussing with them, the formation of ministry will be decided,” he said.
