Romanticising a rowdy

 The rowdy, who had taken a recess in recent times, returns to stalk Sandalwood’s silverscreen.

And with him come the proverbial weapons of mass destruction — chakku, choori, macchu, langu and gun — as mother Pushpa (gloriously played by Urvashi) proudly prods her son Jaggu to become an international don.

Education goes to dogs. It’s all about punches, kicks and slaps, as silver bullets whizz past our one-man demolition Dada. 

Ravishankar, as the grandpa ghost, is equally entertaining as he goads his grandson to turn a new leaf, and let dadagiri die with his notorious dad. He wants him to get married to a homely, cultured girl.

The repartee between Pushpa and her father-in-law Ravishankar as they spar over Jaggu, and the spirited banter between ghostly Ravishankar and his grandson, is Jaggu Dada’s only silver lining. So you have dutiful grandson Jaggu flying to rowdy capital Mumbai as Dubai-returned businessman Jaidev, in search of a bride, telling mama dearest he is going to fulfil her dream.

Though shown several lasses to choose from by marriage broker Gowri, he falls for a genteel Gowri. Meantime, he also gets into the bad books of don Subhash Bhai after he bashes up the don’s kid brother who is after Gowri.

Subtly parodying a rowdy’s degenerate life, nevertheless glorifying it by playing to the gallery, director Raghavendra Hegde cashes in on the Challenging Star’s charisma. With the charming Deeksha Seth more than a pretty presence, Jaggu Dada turns out full paisa vasool for fans.
