The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has finally uploaded the seat matrix for medical and dental seats, much to the relief of students.

As many as 2,446 medical seats in 18 government medical colleges and 10 private medical colleges have been added to the seat matrix by the KEA, so far. More are expected to be added in the coming days.

A breakthrough in talks between the government and private medical colleges with regard to the fee structure was reached on Thursday. Following this, the KEA uploaded the seat matrix on its website as early as 8 am on Friday.

Students immediately exercised their options with the seats being uploaded on the website.

However, while medical seats were immediately uploaded, there were no dental seats in the matrix. Ashwin Shetty, an MBBS and BDS seat aspirant said: “I entered all my options for MBBS seats by 12 noon. However, I was not able to find any dental seats in the matrix. I logged on again at around 8 pm again but still the seat was nowhere to be seen,” he said.

An official from the KEA said the dental seats might be added during the second round of option entry. As many as 700 dental seats are expected to be added from private medical colleges and a few from two government dental colleges.

Seats from deemed colleges and private minority colleges are yet to be added to the matrix as a deal is yet to be reached by them with the government.

Revised dates

The KEA has also revised its dates for option entry. From the earlier last date of June 22, the option entry dates have been extended till 11am on June 27. The mock allotment results will then be published on June 28 after 2 p.m. Options can be then changed from 3 pm June 28 to 3 pm on June 30. The real allotment results will then be published on July 1 at 8 pm. Confirmation of choices on allotment, payment of fees and downloading of admission order will be between July 2 to July 5 and the last date for reporting to colleges will be on July 7 before 5.30 pm.
