JOIN USBengaluru Development Minister K J George on Friday suggested setting up BBMP-One in all 64 Assistant Revenue Offices (ARO) on the lines of BangaloreOne to deal with property tax and other related matters.
At a meeting with BBMP commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad and other officials, George said such a measure would help people to pay their tax more easily besides offering other services such as birth and death certificates. He also directed them to initiate people-friendly measures to simplify procedures with regard to plan sanctions for construction of buildings and create awareness about such measures among people.
He said BBMP should ensure that such plans are given permission within 30 days so that people are not put to inconvenience. He instructed the commissioner to take up property identification database on a war footing. The commissioner explained that the BBMP had so far collected Rs 1,000 crore towards property tax and was expected to collect another Rs 300 crore to Rs 400 crore by June-end.
