Three people were killed and two sustained injuries in separate road accidents in the city since Friday night.
A nine-year-old boy was killed on the spot, while his grandfather escaped with minor injuries in an accident near Sangolli Rayanna Circle in Majestic area.
Darshan, a resident of Chickpet, was a Class III student of Vidya Vardhaka Sangha School in Rajajinagar.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 12.15 pm when Rajanna (71) was taking his grandson back home on his bike.
The bike's handlebar came in contact with the rear part of a bus as Rajanna was speeding. Rajanna fell to his left, while Darshan was thrown off on the other side. The boy came under the rear wheel of the bus and was killed on the spot.
The police clarified that Rajanna was wearing a helmet. The police has detained the bus driver for questioning and seized the vehicle.
65-yr-old mowed down
In Banaswadi, a 65-year-old woman was killed on the spot as a four-wheeler mowed her down at the Hennur cross junction on Saturday morning. Sakamma was a resident of Hennur.
The accident occurred around 5.15 am when she
was crossing the road along with her grandson, Gangaraju (20). She sustained severe head injuries, and was taken to a nearby hospital, but was declared brought dead. Gangaraju sustained minor injuries in the accident. The four-wheeler driver fled from the spot.
Youth hit by truck
A 28-year-old man was killed on the spot after he was hit by a truck while returning home after doing the night shift in Peenya. The victim, identified as Madan (28), was a resident of Chikkabidarakallu.
The accident occurred around 9.15 pm when he was riding along the service road. A speeding truck driver took a turn near Swathi petrol bunk near Chikkabidarakallu and hit Madan's bike.
Madan fell off his bike and sustained severe multiple injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The police have seized the truck.
