Cast: Vinay Raghavendra, Rukshar Mir, Sushmita Joshi, Devaraj, Dattanna, Sai Kumar, Shivaji Rao, Shailaja Joshi, Bullet Prakash
Director: Raghu Shastry V

Schooled by Bollywood directors Vishal Bharadwaj and Anurag Kashyap, debutant director Raghu Shastry’s Run Antony shows he has honed his skills perfectly. Brimming with social messages, specifically aimed at today’s youth who are easily swayed by circumstances — be it love or taking to terrorism — Run Antony, is a neatly packaged film in two parts with events that happen in the course of three days.

In the first half, Shastry weaves a cupid tale, where Royal Star Vinay Raghavendra romances two heroines — Sushmita Joshi and Rukshar Mir.

The first half also sees half a dozen melodious songs by Kadri Manikanth. It is in the second half that the action-thriller picks pace. Protagonist Antony D’Souza, son
of former military officer Mathew D’Souza, is on the run, as the cop-chase commences.

Shorn of formulaic ingredients, Run Antony may not be the regular cinegoer’s film. However, deftly directed within the freedom provided by producers, and with nift acting by Vinay Raghavendra, Run Antony makes for an appreciable flick.

Smitten by college mate Kannikka, Antony gets a rude shock when, on the night he goes to propose, he finds her in bed with another.

A dejected, suicidal Antony soon finds himself staving off goons molesting runaway bride Yashu at the railway station where he goes to commit suicide.

Why Antony is forced to be on the run following his braveheart rescue, and why IB Second-in-Command Nazim Khan is after him, form the fulcrum of Run Antony.

Shot skillfully by Manohar Joshi, with Vinay Raghavendra showing ample promise, Run Antony makes a nice festival weekened family fare.
