Presenting a delicious culinary walk is The Oberoi’s ‘Kolkata Calling’ festival, an authentic journey through Bengali cuisine. Hosted by ‘Le Jardin’, the food festival is inviting food lovers to celebrate the magic of Kolkata.

Expert chef Gopal Paul is leading the festival with his experience which spans over two decades. He has created some mouth-watering dishes that anyone is bound to enjoy.

The ambience of the restaurant has elements of handicrafts and arts from the city along with subtle nuances of its cultural tapestry. The music also features classic Bengali songs that one could tap their feet to.

It also includes dishes from the classic ‘Sorshe Ilish’ to the not-so-familiar ‘Mochar ghonto’, from the robust ‘Kosha Mangsho’ to the delicate ‘Patla Murgeer Jhol’ and more.

As it’s a rotational menu till the end of the week, the live stations of the street food specials and dessert sections will vary. For appetisers, one can indulge in ‘Prawn kobiraji’, ‘Mutton cutlet’, ‘Deemer devil egg’, ‘Beetroot chop’, ‘Mochar chop’ (banana blossom) and ‘Beguni’ (batter fried aubergine). The main course includes items for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

The ‘Pabda Jhaal’, ‘Sorshe Ilish’, ‘Chingri Narkel’ and Mughal influenced ‘Mutton Rezala’ are recommended for the non-vegetarians.

For the vegetarians, the ‘Jhinge posto’, ‘Pulkopir kaalia’, ‘Chana paturi’ and ‘Dhokar dalna’ make for great options.

Both the main courses are accompanied by ‘pulao’, ‘luchi’, ‘paratha’, ‘Gobindo bhog ghee bhaat’ and ‘Kolkata style biryani’.

If you wish for a little more flavour, you can dip into the raw papaya, ‘Shokto’ and ‘Khejur kismis’ chutneys.

The desserts are the best way to end the meal so do try the ‘Rosogolla’, ‘Mishti doi’, ‘Sandesh’, ‘Langcha’ and ‘Kalakaand’.

The festival is on till July 30.
