Two labourers were electrocuted while another sustained injuries while they were working on an electricity pole at Doddamudavadi village in Harohalli in Kanakapura taluk of Ramanagaram district on Monday evening.

The victims were Mahesh, 21, and Mylari, 22. The injured Mallikarjun, 22, is being treated at a hospital. He is stated to be out of danger. The trio hail from Shiggaon in Haveri district, said the police.

They were employed by a contractor for Niranthara Jyothi project at Doddamudavadi village on daily wage basis about a month ago. They were working on an electricity pole and the power was restored without prior information. Mahesh and Mylari were killed on the spot due to massive injuries.

Kanakapura Rural police registered a case of negligence against local Bescom officials, added the police.

Case against builder
Police have registered a criminal case against a builder, who endangered neighbouring buildings by digging his plot at Muniswamappa Layout in Vijinapura.

The case was registered based on a complaint by the BBMP ward engineer, following a report in DH on Sunday. Palike officials have evacuated occupants from the buildings whose foundations are exposed. A portion of the road also caved in due to the excavation. Despite several calls by the Palike engineers, the owner did not show up. A Palike engineer said, “Neither do we have a copy of the sanctioned building plan nor did the builder produce one.” Officials also got the work stopped and started filling soil at the excavation site.
