AAP Parliamentarian Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday shot off a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan demanding a probe into Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to allow “ISI officials” to visit Pathankot air base.

“I request you to expand the ambit of the parliamentary committee investigating my Parliament video. This action of the prime minister should be brought within the ambit of the committee. The prime minister should also be summoned along with me,” Mann said
“If I am guilty, then the prime minister is 100 times guilty,” said Mann, who has been asked to stay away from the Lok Sabha till a nine-member committee submits a report on whether his action of filming his journey past the multilayered Parliament security and posting it on social media was a breach of security.

AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal endorsed Mann’s argument. “Very valid point,” Kejriwal commented on Twitter.

“In 2001, the ISI attacked the Parliament. In 2016, the same ISI attacked the Pathankot Airbase. The prime minister invited the same ISI and had organised a tour of the Pathankot Airbase for them,” the AAP leader said referring to the  Pakistani Investigating Team’s visit to the air base earlier this year. “The ISI made detailed maps of the airbase,” Mann said, adding that this act endangered national security.

“Is my video a threat to national security or the act of the prime minister of conducting a guided tour of the airbase a threat to national security,” he asked.

Meanwhile, the nine-member committee constituted by the Speaker to probe Mann’s action had called Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Verma for deposition.

Verma told the committee, chaired by BJP member Kirit Somaiya that Parliament security should have been alert and prevented Mann from making a video of his journey from his home to Parliament.
