The Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) control room was also flooded with complaints of outages after Thursday night and Friday morning’s rain in the city. Bescom officials say it will take at least two days to restore power supply, particulary in flooded areas.

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials have claimed that it will take two to three days to drain out all water from flood-affected areas. And Bescom officials claim that normal power supply can be restored only when water is drained out completely.

Bescom general manager (CR) N Jayanthi said that from 5 pm on Thursday to 5 pm on Friday, they received 15,413 calls and registered over 7,800 complaints.

Check dams overflowing
One of the last check dams at Bannerghatta Biological Park tiger safari area is now full to the brim.

BBP Executive Director Santosh Kumar told Deccan Herald that there are around 12 check dams in BBP. Due to good rainfall, all of them were full. The last check dam at the tiger safari is now full to the brim and is over flowing. There are chances that it could breach, if rainfall continues, he said.
