Odissi dance festival in city from next week

The seventh edition of Naman, an Odissi dance festival will begin in the city on August 7. Organised by Nrityantar, Bengaluru- based Odissi dance institute, the festival showcases different styles and schools of the dance form.

Acrobatic form
Niladri Mohanty will be performing in the opening act. Guru Meera Das, a master of Bandha Nrutya, an acrobatic form of Odissi, will be performing along with an ensemble from her Cuttack-based Gunjan Dance Academy.

Kaustavi Sarkar, a national scholarship holder who performs under the Sangeet Natak Akademi, will also be giving a performance at the festival. In its previous editions, Naman has featured many well-known artistes like Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, Sangeeta Dash, Guru Aruna Mohanty, Guru Bijayini Satapathy and Guru Madhavi Mudgal among others.

The festival will be held from 5.30 pm at ADA Rangamandira on JC Road. The festival which is a tribute to Odissi Gurus who work towards the development and popularistaion of the art form
