Talking to reporters, he said that the GPs will be honoured with the first, second and third prizes on the basis of their quickness and quality in implementing drinking water project in their limits.

The first prize will be of Rs 10,000 cash, while the second prize will carry Rs 3,000 and the third prize will be a cash of Rs 2,000. The money will given directly to the GPs, he said.
“A grant of Rs 6.5 crore has already been released from the Zilla Panchayat towards the drinking water scheme. The works of national rural drinking water scheme and the small water supply units in some GPs have stumbled half-way. The ZP has considered them seriously,” Kemparaj said.

A meeting of the members and secretaries of all the Taluk Panchayats and Gram Panchayats will be convened soon to ask them to accelerate the works, he informed.
Meetings have already been held in Tarikere, Kadur, Chikmagalur and Mudigere. Though many projects are over, they have not got power yet. A one-month dead-line has been given to commission such projects, he said.

The supervision of the drinking water projects has been assigned to the CEO and the Deputy Secretary. The implementing authorities have been asked to submit proposals in case they need additional funds to complete the projects. A delegation will meet the Chief Minister this month itself in order to demand more grants, he said.
The ZP chief warned that if any discrepancies have taken place in the implementation of the Employment Guarantee Scheme, the officials concerned will face action.
