Villagers construct mini dam under MGREGS

The main water source of the village is a lake here and the water from this lake could not be utilised properly because of the dispute among the villagers over water distribution. Hence, even the dam construction work suffered. ZP Member H M Sathish, Nehuru Youth Centre Advisor Onitota Rathnakar and GP former president Nagesh united the villagers and inspired them to take up the works under MGREGS.

There is no transportation facilitity to this village and the raods are unsurfaced. The residents exhibited their unity and determination by carrying the construction materials on the head and completed the works in 650 man days. Now the water stored in the dam has brought sigh of relief among the villagers, who feel that if not for the project they would have still wasted time fighting over trivial issues. Spending Rs 88,000, villagers have provided water to the fields of Kavish, Gopal, Shekar, Shankar, Umesh, Nagesh, Suresh and others. However, the villagers are yet to receive the money for the project.
