The minor who was gang-raped in Bulandshahr has moved the Supreme Court asking for her case to be transferred to Delhi.

She sought FIRs against minister Azam Khan and UP police. Khan, UP’s urban development minister, termed the gang-rape a conspiracy by the opposition at a press conference, for which he was criticised for being insensitive. He caused substantial outrage to the girl’s modesty, the petition said.

On July 29, a group of highway robbers stopped the car of a Noida-based family and sexually assaulted the woman and her daughter after dragging them out of the vehicle which had four other occupants. The incident caused widespread outrage.

The Allahabad High Court recently ordered a CBI enquiry, besides deciding to take up supervision of the case. In the plea filed by the victim’s father on her behalf, she asked for the transfer of the case from Bulandshahr to Delhi in the interest of justice.

The petitioner also sought "appropriate damages" for the victims besides a direction that the state and others, including the DGP, be stopped from infringing on the victims’ fundamental right to life. It also accused the police of not coming to the victim’s rescue despite her dialling the helpline number.
