JOIN USThe CCB sleuths averted a dacoity bid by arresting five persons. The suspects are Poobalan N (39), Jayapal (36), both residents of Cottonpet, J Gabriel (36) of TR Shamanna Nagar, Stalin (23), of Chamarajpet, and Saravana (29), from Raichur district.
The police said they had planned to commit a dacoity in Banasawadi. The five men had gathered at a vacant site on Banasawadi main road when the police arrived. A pistol and a few lethal weapons were recovered from them.
All the five were associates of notorious rowdy Challakumar. They were involved in murders, attempts to murder, assaults and dacoity cases in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, police said.
Meanwhile, the police also arrested Challakumar and Imran (24) of Markandeshwaranagar, Manivannan (26) of Cottonpet and Arun Kumar (20) of Banasawadi. Challakumar is involved in 36 cases. The police acted on definite leads and arrested them near Basava Academy, Nelagadarenahalli.
