To raise awareness on eye donation, Sakshama Foundation organised a ‘Blind Walk’ in the city on Sunday in which former chief minister B S Yeddyrurappa and many political leaders took part.

The walk, led by visually challenged people, was for people with sight to experience the challenges faced by the blind. The programme was conducted as part of the foundation’s campaign to free the country from corneal blindness.

Speaking at the event, Yeddyurappa said, “More than sympathy, visually challenged people need support”. He said that eye donation should be made mandatory. He added that when he was in office, all the ministers had pledged to donate their eyes.

Rajajinagar MLA S Suresh Kumar, actors Shruthi, Tara,  Jaggesh and other BJP leaders walked blind-folded as part of the walkathon, from Narayana Nethralaya in Rajajinagar to ISKCON temple.
