According to a complaint lodged by the woman, she stepped out of her home at about 2 AM on Tuesday to buy something when the cabbie approached and offered to ferry her wherever she wanted to go.

"She asked him to take her to medical shop and boarded the car. The driver misguided her in the guise of showing medical shop and took her to Himayathsagar via Shamshabad, with an intention to molest her by taking advantage of her loneliness," the DCP said.

Police rushed there after getting information and rescued her.

A case of robbery and attempt to rape was registered, the DCP said, adding that police formed five special teams to nab the driver, who has been identified from the CCTV footage.

After verifying the CCTV footages of the scene, police noticed the vehicle number and collected details of the accused, but he was not found at home.

"The special teams were sent to Hayathnagar, Towlichoki and Gandipet. Later the accused was caught at Gandipet and police seized the vehicle and recovered the phone from him," the DCP added.
