'Seed Aadhaar numbers to check benami beneficiaries'

Principal Secretary to the Department of Horticulture and the District In-charge Secretary Rajiv Chawla on Monday directed officials to seed Aadhaar number of beneficiaries to extend benefits of various schemes.

Presiding over a progress review meeting at convened at the DC’s office hall here, he said, “The seeding of Aadhaar numbers will also help in checking loopholes in the distribution system and also duplication of beneficiaries. The genuine beneficiaries will be largely benefitted.” 

Taking cognisance of the seeding of Aadhaar numbers of 66,995 (56.30%) beneficiaries against 1,19,018 beneficiaries identified under various social security schemes, Chawla directed the officials to complete the work at the earliest.

He also informed the meeting about documenting the harvesting of crops by recording it on mobile phone camera, as more 3,000 experiments on harvesting has been conducted in the district. The data will be collated with the coordination of the departments concerned, he added.

Chawla took note of creating 10.18 lakh (68.46%) job days against the target of 14.15 lakh under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). To achieve the target, the Forest, Horticulture, Sericulture, Agriculture and also Animal Husbandry Departments have been told to work in tandem for the effective implementation of the scheme, he added.

He directed the Women and Child Development Department officer to take necessary steps to solve malnutrition among anganwadi children.

He was apprised about works completed on 30 anganwadi buildings against 55 building works undertaken in the current fiscal. Of the total 1,8225 anganwadis in the district, 1,445 are functioning in own buildings, he was told.

Chawla told the district administration to take a call on rejuvenating underground water table on priority basis. Besides, precautionary measures should be taken to tackle possible drinking water crisis in future, he noted.

Deputy Commissioner G Satyavathi said the people have been informed about taking the requisite permission from competent authority before drilling borewells due to falling underground water level following scanty rain.

The Deputy Commissioner  also blamed slow server for slow pace of functioning at Bhoomi Kendras where the types of crops grown by farmers are entered in Pahani records while the farmers have applied for survey and Phodi (creating individual RTCs from the multiple ownerships recorded in Phodis).

Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr R Ragapriya said drinking water is still supplied through tankers at seven villages in Lakhya hobli in the taluk.

Additional Deputy Commissioner M L Vaishali, DCF M S Manik, Assistant Commissioners Sanappa and Saroja, tahisldars and district officers of various departments attended the meeting.
