<p>Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa on Thursday set a deadline of December to dispose of pending applications for regularisation of lands under sections 94A and 94B of Karnataka Land Revenue Act 1964.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Presiding over the progress review meeting at deputy commissioner’s office here, the minister warned officials against coming out with ‘stray’ reasons for not clearing the pending applications. “It could be an MLA or whoever, but attend to every application,” he ordered.<br /><br />Thimmappa also categorically instructed the officials to dispose of the applications either in the order of villages or survey numbers. “If the lands in particular villages are considered for disposal, the applications related to the villages should be cleared, so that the queries of the villages are solved. The same method should be applied in the case of dealing with the queries as per the survey number,” he explained.<br /><br />The minister also asked for a monthly report from the deputy commissioner in this regard.<br />Pointing at the officers again, the minister said that it has been 25 years already since the process was initiated, yet it remains incomplete. <br /><br />“If the officials cannot deliver, they should be ready for ‘sudden transfers’,” he warned.<br />Under 94A, out of 1.73 lakh applications, as many as 1.11 lakh applications have been disposed of, while under 94B, 85,000 of the total 1.11 lakh applications have been disposed of in Dakshina Kannada district.<br /><br />The minister also directed Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha to take a call on the pending applications under depressed classes (DC Manna Land), the dedicated programme for Dakshina Kannada district where SC, ST families will be provided with land.<br /><br />Lake encroachment<br />Taking cognisance of the encroachment of government lands including Dakshina Kannada district, the minister made particular mention of encroachment in lake areas. Following this, the tahsildars should mark the boundary of extent of land, the minister suggested.<br /><br />New taluks<br />Reacting to media queries later, the minister said new taluks will be announced in the next budget. <br /> </p>
