INAE young engineer awards for IISc faculty

Three faculty members of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have won the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) Young Engineer award for 2016.

Prof Uday Kumar Reddy B and Prof Chandan Saha of the Department of Computer Science and Automation and Prof Sai Siva Gorthi of the Department of Instrumentation and Applied Physics are the three faculty members who received the award. Dr Santanu Talukder, a former PhD student has received the INAE Innovative Student Projects Award.

Prof Reddy was recognised for his work on compilers for multicore processors and parallel and high performance computing while Prof Saha’s recognition comes on the heels of him being awarded the INSA Young Scientist Award for his work on computational complexity theory and algorithms.

Prof Gorthi has significantly contributed to the development of innovative optofluidic technologies that help in bringing a complete automation in the disease diagnosis process, said a press release from the IISc. Santanu Talukder, who recently obtained his PhD degree from the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering, IISc, was felicitated for his thesis on nano fabrication and patterning.

The INAE is an independent body and  recognises excellence in the practice of engineering and technology.
