Three held for making video that insults Jayalalithaa

Suspects are from Mastikatte in Shivamogga district

The police arrested two engineers and a marketing executive for producing and circulating a video with derogatory remarks against Tamilians and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

The suspects were identified as Mukesh Lakmani, 26, Rakesh Gowda, 25, and Ashwath, 26, all from Mastikatte, Hosanagar taluk, Shivamogga district.

Lakmani works with Pesitech Precision Machinery Pvt Ltd in Peenya, while Gowda is a design engineer with Novem Solutions Pvt Ltd. Ashwath works with Tally Solutions Pvt Ltd.

The trio penned the lyrics, directed and acted in the video. The lyrics project Cauvery river as the sole property of Kannadigas.

It projects Tamilians and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in bad taste. The lyrics are even lewd. It promotes hatred and affects harmony. The contents are provocative in nature.

The video was created using Sony Vegas video editing software. They uploaded the video on September 14. The video was copied and was circulated through WhatsApp. The police came to know about the video two days ago and took the help of experts in analysing the contents and arrested the suspects.

Case registered
The police have booked the trio under IPC Sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 504, (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
