LG's decisions harming us: CM

Last Updated 09 October 2016, 20:17 IST

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday signalled intensification of his friction with Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung by accusing the latter of harming the interests of Delhiites by reversing the AAP government’s public-friendly decisions.

“It has become LG vs farmers, LG vs advocates, LG vs women, LG vs Delhiites,” Kejriwal said in a tweet.

In response to a remark that a “LG vs CM” battle was on, Kejriwal responded in a tweet: “No. There is no LG vs CM. CM is too small a person and has no personal interests.”

Kejriwal’s tweets made it clear that his last week’s two meetings with Jung to steer the fight against chikungunya failed to reduce the perceived tussle between the two.

A day earlier, Kejriwal made a public appeal to Jung not to cancel the public welfare decisions taken by the AAP government.

The chief minister accused the central government of launching a vicious campaign against the AAP government by declaring “null and void” decisions taken by the AAP since February 2015.

Kejriwal has been venting his anger over the LG’s recent decisions to strike down a revision in circle rates of farm land, transfer of bureaucrats, dissolution of the wakf board and trimming of the panel of government lawyers.

Jung has been reviewing the decision of the Kejriwal government ever since the Delhi High Court on August 4 held him has the administrative head of the Union Territory.

The chief minister requested Jung to give his ex-post facto approval on those files which were not sent for his prior approval.

“In the past, ex-post facto approval of LG has been given to the government's various decisions. How could we turn the clock back? The High Court order cannot have retrospective effect, instead it can only have prospective effect,” Kejriwal said on Saturday.

He also demanded a greater say for the AAP government in transfer and posting of
bureaucrats.
