Last Updated 12 October 2016, 19:18 IST

Coimbatore-based Air Carnival will start a daily air service between Hubballi and Bengaluru from October 30.

Hubballi Airport Director Shivanand Benal said the slot for Air Carnival has already been allotted and if the response is good, the airline will extend its service between Hubballi and Bengaluru to Chennai. The flight with 66 seats will land at Hubballi Airport at 10 am and take off for Bengaluru at 10:30 am. The regional airline has made required preparations to start the service, he said.

Meanwhile, Air India, which operates its flights four days a week between Hubballi and Bengaluru, will also become a daily service from November. With this, Hubballi Airport will have two daily flights connecting it with state capital and which in turn is expected to bring down the fare.

Air Carnival is one of the new airlines which got permission from the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to start domestic air service to connect more cities at lower fare and to promote tourism. The regional airline is already operating from Coimbatore, Chennai and Madurai in Tamil Nadu and this service will be extended to Mangaluru, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry by end of the month.
