Mediterranean soundscape

Istituto Italiano di Cultura (IIC) is presenting a jazz concert by ‘Allulli Trio’ (Italy) on October 21, 9 pm at BFlat, Indiranagar. The concert will feature Marcello Allulli (tenor saxophone), Giovanni Ceccarelli (piano) and Matteo Fraboni (drums). It will also have a late set by ‘Shreya Bhattacharya Collective’.

 The ‘Allulli Trio’ performs live, creating a soundtrack to the silent movie ‘Cenere’ starring the legendary and acclaimed Italian theatre actor, Eleonora Duse. This critically acclaimed and landmark short film is among the most vivid, profound, and successful examples of a meeting between cinema and literature. 

Based on a novel by the great writer and Nobel Laureate, Grazia Deledda, ‘Cenere’ is the only existing visual document of Duse’s acting art, thus assuring the film an irreplaceable place in the history of Italian cinema. 

The ‘Allulli Trio’ draws its music inspiration from jazz, Mediterranean soundscapes, free improvisation, and folk songs. The trio whose features are great expressive freedom and inspired lyricism are group leaders in their own right have been collaborating since many years. Shreya Bhattacharya, a versatile jazz, R&B and neo-soul vocalist from Kolkata. The ‘Shreya Bhattacharya Collective’ features Shreya Bhattacharya on vocals, Srinjay Bannerjee on guitar, Avishek Dey on bass and Vivek Nair on drums​.
