Last Updated 17 October 2016, 20:14 IST

The High Court on Monday directed the Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural, to personally visit Alliance University on Tuesday, check the ID card of all the staff members and students and ask those who do not belong to the university to leave the premises. Justice Anand Byrareddy passed an order in a family dispute of the university vice chancellor Madhukar Angur.

The judge had previously pulled up the Anekal police for intervening in a civil matter by helping Angur enter the university premises. The intervention of the police is in violation of the lower court order. The judge had directed DG&IGP to take disciplinary action against the police personnel who had helped Angur.

Madhukar Angur is in a dispute with his family members including Shaila Chebbi Govind, Mala Madikeri Srinivas Gowda, Abhay Govind Chebbi, Prakash Budoor, Sudhir Angur and Govind Chebbi. The dispute is with regard to the share transfers and the ownership of the university.
