'Bengaluru City 10K' run in Indiranagar on Sunday

Last Updated 20 October 2016, 20:40 IST

‘Bengaluru City 10K’, the first community run to promote a healthy lifestyle, will be organised on October 23 (Sunday) by EON Sports Management in association with Bangalore Schools Sports Foundation.

The event, for which DH is the media partner, was conceptualised with the idea of promoting the well-being of community as a whole. Distance, traffic and logistics of arriving at the marathon venue at odd hours often discourage senior citizens and children from participating in other runs in the city. The Bengaluru City 10K is being organised in Indiranagar to begin with, to encourage participation of all age-groups. Senior IPS officer B N S Reddy, who won gold medal at a world tennis event for the police last year, is the ambassador of the run.

The run will begin at 6.30 am from the Indiranagar Club. There will be a timed 10K run and an untimed 5K run. The 10K timed run will be competitive with experienced runners participating from various clubs and about 250 runners registered from ASC Centre and College (Indian Army).

Indiranagar Runners are training participants in preparation for the first community run which already has 1,500 registrations.

Those interested can register on www.bc10K.com and collect the kits on October 22 from the club between 11 am and 6 pm.
