Holenarasipur MLA and JD(S) leader H D Revanna on Saturday criticised District in-charge Minister A Manju for issuing defamatory statements against MLA H S Prakash and his family members and reiterated that he was not hungry for publicity.

Addressing a press conference, here, Revanna clarified that he stood in a long queue to pay obeisance to Goddess Hasanamba on Friday as he was a devotee of the deity and not because he sought any political mileage out of it. He stated that as per protocol, the district administration and the minister should have invited former prime minister and MP H D Deve Gowda, and other people’s representatives for the Hasanamba festival. Revanna said he however, did not wait for the invite and chose to seek a darshan which is now being falsely attributed to a publicity stunt.

‘Produce evidence’

The JD(S) leader clarified that the allegations made by Minister Manju insinuating that MLA H S Prakash’s family members had encroached upon a lake to construct a building, are flase and concocted. Revanna further alleged that the minister forced MLA’s brother H S Mohan Das into taking voluntary retirement as assistant director of Animal Husbandry department.

Revanna said, “If the minister releases documents or photographs of Mohan Das accepting a bribe, I will demand the resignation of MLA Prakash.” It may be recalled that Manju had claimed that he had photographs of Mohan Das accepting a bribe. Revanna challenged the minister to conduct an enquiry against all JD(S) representatives, including Deve Gowda.

Relief not disbursed

Speaking on drought relief funds, Revanna said, Rs 8 crore had been released for the relief works in the district, but the officials had not disbursed the same.

He expressed concern over the ‘lackadaisical attitude’ of the DC in discharging her responsibilities.

He stated that the authorities were supplying drinking water to the city only once in 10 days because of which the people of the rural areas were facing scarcity of water.
