Bowlers did a tremendous job, says Arun

After his side’s comprehensive victory over Delhi, Karnataka head coach J Arun Kumar heaped praised on his bowlers for putting up an impressive performance.

“We expected a result, but did not think we will bundle Delhi out for just 90 in the first innings. We thought it was more of a 200-run wicket. It was a tremendous job done as a bowling unit. (S) Arvind rattled them in the first innings and then (Abhimanyu) Mithun was good today. I am also very happy for K Gowtham. He has been bowling well, and to do well against Delhi, which is a star-studded team, was a special effort and he will be leaving Kolkata with a lot of confidence,” Arun said.

Five Karnataka batsmen scored half-centuries in Karnataka’s first innings of 414 all out but none of them were able to go on and register a big knock. Arun said batsmen played according to the situation and did well to not lose wickets in a row.

“We expect at least three 50s and one 100 from the batting department. But again, the wicket was not very trustworthy as there was slight lateral deviation throughout. Some of the batsmen could have gone on to score a big knock though. (CM) Gautam didn't get many partners to bat around or else he could have completed a century.  At the end of the day, with 414 on the board, we can't blame the batsmen. We didn't lose wickets in a row, and that certainly is a positive,” he explained.
